For a small town in the South African bush, Hoedspruit has a quirky, colorful array of eateries. Some of Dennis and Anouk’s favorites are:
Meridian Sushi & Grill – A great place for fresh sushi and grilled fish such as Mozambique prawns. The only place in town where you can dine inside with air conditioning, which really is great during the hot summer months!
The Farm House Hoedspruit
The Farm House is one of the older buildings still standing in Hoedspruit. The Farm House concept was started in 2020 by a husband and wife team – Jake and Antonia Hoddinott. Having both grown up on small farms they wanted to recreate that simple and wholesome old way of life for their family and other people to enjoy. We totally love all the food here, organic, gluten free and vegan options – it’s all there. Plus the vibe is really Capetonian, you’ll get a wine estate type of feeling;)
Maroela Bar – This is a relaxed, casual spot for an informal pizza or a pub-style meal in an outdoor setting
Hat & Creek – This is a well-established restaurant with a romantic atmosphere and traditional menu that features some South African favorites. They are well-known for their steaks.
The Fig & Bean – A coffee shop that rivals central perk for its role in Hoedspruit’s day-to-day life; it’s a popular local spot for meets and greets, with fresh juices, salads and cakes on the menu. We love their salads with fresh avo’s!
“Our own taste is for local, organic and vegan food, but Hoedspruit caters for everyone. We’re happy to make recommendations for your stay based on your preferences.” Owners, Dennis and Anouk.
